Abstract:Objective To explore the application value of multimodal neuronavigation technology in the imaging of sphenoid sinus in surgery via endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal approach (EETSA). Methods Twenty-three patients who underwent surgery via EETSA were collected. The sellar region CT and enhancement MRI scan were executed before the surgery and the CT images were optimized by Stealth VZ workshop. MRI and optimized CT images were merged for fusion by using multimodal neuronavigation technology. The influence of fusion technology by multimodal neuronavigation on imaging of the sphenoid sinus was explored. Results Compared with the simple MRI or CT navigation technology, the multimodal neuronavigation fusion technology clearly showed the tumor lesion and intracranial structures including bony structures, sphenoid sinus cartilage, mucous membrane and separations of gas cells. Conclusion Multimodal neuronavigation fusion technology can help the surgeon to display the septation and shape of the sphenoid sinus, confirm the precise anatomical relationship between the sphenoid sinus and around structures during surgery via EETSA, thus providing guarantee for successful surgery.
