Percutaneous endoscopic discectomy for L4-5 lumbar disc herniation via interlaminar approach

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinical outcome of full endoscopic for L4-5 lumbar disc herniation via interlaminar approach.Methods Clincal data of 86 patients with L4-5 lumbar disc herniation were analyzed retrospectively,who underwent percutaneous endoscopic discectomy via interlaminar approach.The lower limb VAS and lumbar vertebral JOA score before and after surgery were compared.Results All the patients underwent successful surgery.No serious complications occurred.Relapse was found in 2 patients 6 months after surgery,who received second surgery to remove the herniated lumbar disc.Compared with preoperation,the lower limb VAS and lumbar vertebral JOA scores of patients were better at 3 d,6 months and 12 months after surgery (P < 0.05).Conclusion Percutaneous full endoscopic discectomy for L4-5 lumbar disc herniation via interlaminar approach has characteristics of minimal invasion and quick recovery,and thus could obtain good clinical outcomes.
