Abstract:Objective To explore the efficacy and technical essentials of endovascular embolization with Axium detachable coils for intracranial aneurysms. Methods Clinical data of 57 patients with intracranial aneurysms undergoing endovascular embolization with Axium detachable coils were analyzed retrospectively, including a total of 57 aneurysms and 16 wide-necked aneurysms. Results Successful occlusion was achieved in all 57 patients, including Raymond gradeⅠin 37 aneurysms (64.9%), gradeIIin 16 (28.1%) and gradeⅢin 4 (7.0%) according to immediate postoperative radiography. Related complications of embolization occurred in 5 patients (8.8%), out of them, one patient died. Forty-four patients were followed up for 3 to 36 months, no rebleeding and new neurological symptoms occurred. DSA reexamination was performed in 24 patients, and recurrence was found in 1 patient. Conclusion Endovascular embolization with Axium detachable coils is safe, reliable and effective for intracranial aneurysms.
