Clinical analysis of subarachnoid hemorrhage after transsphenoidal pituitary tumor surgery

Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical manifestations, mechanism and treatment of subarachnoid hemorrhage after transsphenoidal pituitary tumor surgery (TPTS). Methods Clinical data of 5 patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage after TPTS were analyzed retrospectively. The evacuation of hematoma was performed on 3 patients and extraventricular drainage and lumbar cistern drainage on 2. Results The subtotal resection was achieved in all patients and pathological examination showed non-functional adenomas. The complete recovery occurred in 3 patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage, vegetable state in 1 and 1 died after the treatment. Conclusion Subarachnoid hemorrhage after TPTS is one of serious complications after the operation and early detection and correct processing are the keys of treatment.
