Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of endovascular stent-assisted angioplasty in the treatment of symptomatic stenosis or occlusion of the subclavian artery. Methods Clinical data of 17 patients with symptomatic stenosis or occlusion of the subclavian artery were analyzed retrospectively, who underwent endovascular stent-assisted angioplasty. Results Stent implantation was successful in 16 patients and failed in 1 with subclavian artery occlusion. The success rate was 94%. The subclavian artery steal phenomenon disappeared and clinical symptoms were improved significantly in the patients with successful surgery. No postoperative stent-related complications occurred. The patients were followed up for 6 to 12 months. The vascular ultrasound and CTA examination showed no in-stent restenosis. Conclusion Endovascular stent-assisted angioplasty is a safe and effective treatment method for symptomatic stenosis or occlusion of the subclavian artery.
