Abstract:Objective To investigate the expressions of vimentin and NF-κB in invasive glioma and relationship between the expressions of both vimentin and NF-κB and the invasion of glioma. Methods Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the differential expressions of vimentin, NF-κB and MMP-7 in 28 low-grade (gradesⅠandⅡ) gliomas and 18 high-grade (gradesⅢandⅣ) gliomas. The gene expression of vimentin was detected by RT-PCR in 46 gliomas. Results Vimentin, NF-κB and MMP-7 were all more highly expressed in high-grade gliomas than the low-grade those (χ2=4.44, 5.22, 6.47, all P<0.05). The expressions of vimentin and NF-κB was of positive correlation (r =0.414, P<0.05). Conclusions The high expression of NF-κB promotes the expression of vimentin, which collaborates with MMP-7, leading to the invasion and migration of glioma.
