Abstract:Objective To study the correlation between LRIG2 expression and the invasiveness of human pituitary adenoma. Methods The expressions of LRIG2 and MMP-9 in 159 cases of human pituitary (8 cases of normal human pituitary body and 151 cases of human pituitary adenoma) were detected by immunohistochemical techniques and correlation analysis performed. Results The LRIG2 showed no expression in normal human pituitary body. The expression of LRIG2 in invasive pituitary adenomas was significantly higher than non-invasive pituitaryadenomas(P<0.001).TheexpressionofLRIG-2was positivelycorrelatedwithMMP-9expression(r=0.698,P<0.001). Conclusions LRIG2 could be a new predictive index for the invasiveness of pituitary adenoma. The expression of LRIG2 can guide clinical evaluation for invasiveness of pituitary adenoma and develop individualized treatment programs.
