Abstract:Extracorporeal circulation(ECC)is a key assistive technology in cardiac surgery, which can temporarily replace the functions of the heart and lungs to maintain the stability of patients'vital signs. However, the application of this technique may also have certain negative effects on the physiological functions of patients, and pulmonary atelectasis is one of the common complications during extracorporeal circulation.Pulmonary atelectasis refers to partial or complete collapse of lung tissue, resulting in limited gas exchange function. It occurs during ECC for complex reasons, including inflammatory stress as well as prolonged hypoventilation. The presence of pulmonary atelectasis not only aggravates the patient's dyspnea, but may also trigger further lung infections and other complications, significantly affecting the postoperative recovery of cardiac surgery patients. Therefore, exploring the occurrence process and mechanism of atelectasis after extracorporeal circulation,as well as measures to prevent and treat atelectasis,is essential to improve the outcome and prognosis of cardiac patients. This article fo-cuses on pulmonary atelectasis after extracorporeal circulation, and aims to provide a systematic review of the current status of its occurrence, the effects on the body, the intrinsic mechanisms of its occurrence,as well as prevention strategies and therapeutic management.
