From"Extracorporeal Circulation"to"Extracorporeal Life Support":the Academic Territory Expansion and Mission Sublima-tion of a Professional Journal
Abstract：In 2025, the Chinese medical journal industry witnessed a landmark event — the official renaming of 'Chinese Journal of Extracorporeal Circulation' to 'Chinese Journal of Extracorporeal Life Support'. This strategic renaming not only condenses and elevates two decades of academic accumulation, but also responds to the evolving trends of the extracorporeal life support technology discipline. Since 2003, this professional journal has developed from a quarterly publication to a bimonthly one, expanding in size from 64 pages to nearly 100 pages, witnessing the vigorous development of extracorporeal circulation technology in China and marking the entry of the discipline into a new era.
