Abstract:Cardiac surgery involving extracorporeal circulation(ECC)is closely associated with a pronounced systemic inflammatory response, leading to an imbalance between pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory mediators, which results in tissue damage and organ dysfunction, and ultimately significantly affecting the patient's operative clinical outcome. This article provides a comprehensive discussion on the application and clinical significance of glucocorticoids in the context of ECC-related systemic inflammatory response, based on the"expert consensus on improving systemic inflammatory response associated with extracorporeal circulation",while integrating current evidence from clinical studies. The aim is to offer practical insights for clinical practice.Future investigations should prioritize optimizing glucocorticoid dosge, exploringcombined therapeutic strategies, and mitigating potential adverse effects to enhance their clinical utility.
