Abstract:Cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB)refers to the complex technical process of draining blood from the heart and circulating it outside the body through a special device to oxygenate and exchange carbon dioxide before returning it to the body, thus completely or partially replacing the circulatory and respiratory functions of the heart and lungs. It has revolutionized cardi-ac surgery.However,CPB-assisted cardiac surgery can also lead to some postoperative complications. Therefore, understanding the high-risk factors for postoperative complications and taking corresponding measures before and after surgery can greatly re-duce patients'length of hospital stay, hospital costs, and postoperative mortality rates. This article will review CPB complications and their prevention in hopes of providing guidance for CPB complication prevention and clinical treatment.
