Abstract:[ Abstract]:Objective To analyze the development of cardiac surgery in China from 2004 to 2013. Methods A questionnaire was used to collected the information about the numbers of cardiac surgery, the surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass ( CPB) , the oxy?genator and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation ( ECMO) from CPB departments in all hospitals in China ( except Taiwan) . Results The number of cardiac surgery increased from 90812 cases in 2004 to 207881 cases in 2013, while the CPB cases increased from 74840 to 162254. The increase was 2.29 and 2.16 times, and the annual increase rates were 9.64% and 8.93% respectively. The EC?MO cases increased from 84 to 539. There was still a big gap on the number of operation in different hospitals of different areas. The im?ported membrane oxygenators were used more frequently than local oxygenators. Conclusion In China, great progresses have taken place in last decade, but the development and the medical recourses are unbalanced in different areas. The whole level is still not so ad?vanced as developed country, for example, the medical equipment market was major occupied by imported products.
