Abstract:Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of high-flow oxygen therapy combined with cluster intervention on the elderly patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD)complicated with Type 1 respiratory failure. Methods Seventy-two cases of elderly patients with AECOPD complicated with Type 1 respiratory failure in Longyan First Hospital from January 2022 to January 2025 were selected, and divided into two groups. The control group(n=36)received high-flow oxygen therapy and routine nursing, while the observation group(n=36)received high-flow oxygen therapy combined with cluster intervention. The blood gas indicators, improvement of clinical symptoms and occurrence of adverse events of the two groups were compared. Results After intervention, the arterial partial pressure of oxygen, blood oxygen saturation, arterial carbon dioxide partial pressure, and oxidation index in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The scores of Brog dyspnea score and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease assessment test in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse events in the observation group was 2.78%,which was lower than 16.67% in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion In elderly patients with AECOPD complicated with Type 1 respiratory failure,high-flow oxygen therapy combined with cluster intervention can effectively improve their blood gas indicators, effectively alleviate clinical symptoms, and reduce the occurrence of adverse events.
