Abstract:Objective To compare the efficacy of plasmakinetic resection of the prostate(PKRP)and transurethral resection of prostate(TURP)in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).Methods One hundred and fourteen BPH patients admitted to Xiapu County Hospital from January 2023 to April 2025 were included in the study and randomly divided into a control group and a study group, with 57 patients in each group. The control group was treated with TURP,while the observation group was treated with PKRP.The surgical outcomes and improvements in prostate function, urodynamics, and sexual function were compared between the two groups. Results The observation group had significantly shorter surgical time, intraoperative blood loss, urinary catheter retention time, and hospitalization time compared to the control group(P<0.05).Three months after surgery, the individual scores and total scores of the international prostate symptom score in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The residual urine volume and urination time of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, while the maximum urine flow rate and average urine flow rate were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).The core scores and total scores of international index of erectile function-15 in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with TURP,PKRP treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia has the advantages of shorter surgical time, less bleeding, and faster recovery. It can also significantly improve prostate function and urodynamics in patients, while having a smaller impact on sexual function.
