Abstract:Objective To systematically evaluate the current status of dietary health education for diabetic patients based on the structure process outcome model, and provide a basis for optimizing the educational management system. Methods A convenience sampling method was employed to select 120 patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus who received treatment from January 2022 to December 2023.A self-designed questionnaire was used to collect general information and data across the three dimensions of structure, process, and outcome model. Results In the structure dimension, there was an imbalance in basic resource allocation, with only 37.5%of food models being fully equipped and a 25.0%configuration rate of full-time diabetes education nurses. In the process dimension, the educational methods were traditional and lacked individualization, with an implementation rate of individualized guidance at 35.8%,a follow-up rate of 29.2%,and 45.8%of patients receiving less than 15 minutes of education persession. In the outcome dimension,41.7%of patients had poor mastery of dietary knowledge, and only 45.8%demonstrated good adherence to dietary behaviors. At the last follow-up,the patient's fasting blood glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin and triglycerides, total cholesterol,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol were significantly improved compared to the time of enrollment(P<0.05).Conclusion The current situation of diabetes diet health education system has related defects in the three dimensions of structure, process and results. The insufficient allocation of resources has limited the depth and continuity of the education process, leading to poor conversion of patients'knowledge, belief and practice, and the improvement of key metabolic indicators has not reached the ideal goal.
