Analysis of Risk Factors and Construction of Predictive Model for Implant Treatment in Patients with Periodontitis

Abstract：Objective To explore the influencing factors of implant failure in patients with periodontitis and construct a risk prediction model.Methods A total of 286 patients with periodontitis who underwent implant treatment in Min Dong Hospital Affiliated to Fujian Medical University from May 2020 to April 2022 were collected,and followed up until April 2025.According to the conditions after 3-year follow-up after implantation,they were divided into a failure group(n=62)and a success group(n=224).Results The proportions of age≥60 years old,diabetes,smoking history,failure to clean teeth regularly,osteoporosis,not brushing teeth after meals,and brushing time<3 minutes in the failure group were all higher than those in the successful group(P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that age≥60 years old,diabetes,smoking history,irregular teeth cleaning,and osteoporosis were independent risk factors affecting dental implant failure in patients with periodontitis(P<0.05).ROC curve analysis showed that the AUC value,sensitivity and specificity of the comprehensive index constructed by independent risk factors in predicting dental implant failure in patients with periodontitis were 0.742,75.80%and 61.60%,respectively.Conclusion Age≥60 years old,diabetes,smoking history,failure to clean teeth regularly,and osteoporosis are independent risks affecting dental implant failure in patients with periodontitis.The risk prediction model constructed based on the above indicators has certain predictive value and can provide a reference basis for the early clinical identification of high-risk populations.
