Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of steep axis corneal relaxing incisions in patients undergoing refractive cataract surgery. Methods A total of 180 patients who underwent refractive cataract surgery at Jian'ou Municipal Hospital of Fujian Province from May 2022 to May 2024 were selected and divided into an observation group and a control group, with 90 patients in each group, based on the different surgical incision positions. The observation group made the main incision on the steep meridian of the cornea and made a penetrating full-thickness transparent corneal incision on the opposite side. The control group only made incisions along the steep axis meridian of the cornea.Compare the corneal astigmatism, uncorrected visual acuity, and best corrected visual acuity before surgery,1 month after surgery, and 3 months after surgery between two groups. Results One month after surgery, the corneal astigmatism in both groups decreased compared to before surgery, and the observation group was significantly lower than the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in corneal astigmatism between the observation group at 3 months after surgery and 1 month after surgery(P>0.05).The corneal astigmatism degree in the control group increased significantly at 3 months after surgery compared to 1 month after surgery(P<0.05).The corneal astigmatism degree of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group at 3 months after surgery(P<0.05).One month after surgery, both groups showed an improvement in uncorrected visual acuity and best corrected visual acuity compared to preoperative levels(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in uncorrected visual acuity and best corrected visual acuity between the two groups at 1 month after surgery(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in uncorrected visual acuity and best corrected visual acuity between the two groups at 3 months after surgery compared to 1 month after surgery(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the uncorrected visual acuity and best corrected visual acuity between the two groups at three months after surgery(P>0.05).Conclusion For patients undergoing refractive cataract surgery, using a steep axis corneal relaxing incision can effectively correct corneal astigmatism, and the effect is more stable than using only the steep axis meridian as a single incision. It is worthy of promotion and application.
