Abstract:Objective To analyze the efficacy of proximal femoral anti-rotation intramedullary nailing in treating intertrochanteric fractures of the femur in elderly patients under different body positions. Methods From January 2022 to January 2024,120 elderly patients with intertrochanteric fractures of the femur treated with proximal femoral anti-rotation intramedullary nails at DongTai BeiHai Orthopedic Hospital were selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, with 60 patients in each group. The surgical position for the control group was a supine position with a traction bed, while the surgical position for the observation group was a lateral position without a traction bed.The surgical-related indicators of the two groups were compared, and the hip joint function, fracture reduction quality, and complication occurrence were also compared between the two groups before surgery and six months after surgery. Results After comparative analysis, the surgical time, incision length, fluoroscopy frequency, positioning time, and bleeding volume during the surgery in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences in Harris hip score, excellent and good rate of fracture reduction, and incidence of complications between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion In the treatment of elderly intertrochanteric fractures of the femur with proximal femoral anti-rotation intramedullary nailing, the use of lateral position without traction can effectively expedite the surgical process and reduce intraoperative injuries. However, compared with supine position with traction, the effects of both on hip joint function, fracture reduction, and complications are relatively similar.
