Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of formula milk powder on the early growth and development of premature infants after discharge. Methods A study was conducted on 90 premature baby admitted to Lingcheng District People's Hospital of Dezhou from May 2020 to February 2024.These infants were divided into a control group(45 cases)and a study group(45 cases)using a random number table method. The control group received regular milk powder feeding after discharge, while the study group received formula milk powder feeding. The growth and development, biochemical indicators, and incidence of extrauterine growth retardation were compared between the two groups at different time points. Results There were no statistically significant differences in head circumference, weight, height,Kaup index,as well as serum calcium, hemoglobin, alkaline phosphatase, and prealbumin levels between the two groups at one month of age(P>0.05).However,at three and six months of age,the study group exhibited significantly higher values in head circumference, weight, height,Kaup index,as well as serum calcium, hemoglobin, alkaline phosphatase, and prealbumin levels compared to the control group(P<0.05).Additionally,at six months of age,the incidence of extrauterine growth retardation was lower in the study group than in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion After discharge, formula milk powder can effectively promote the early growth and development of premature infants and reduce the occurrence of intrauterine growth retardation, with obvious advantages and further promotion and use value.
