Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of ultrasound-guided brachial plexus anesthesia block in children's upper extremity surgery. Methods A total of 110 pediatric patients who underwent elective brachial plexus anesthesia block upper limb surgery at the Children's Hospital of Soochow University from June 2022 to June 2024 were selected as the study subjects. All patients were randomly divided into a conventional group and an ultrasound group using a random number table method, with 55 cases in each group. The conventional group used a nerve stimulator assisted localization method for brachial plexus anesthesia block, while the ultrasound group implemented brachial plexus anesthesia block under ultrasound guidance. The anesthesia effects of the two groups were compared and analyzed. Results There was no significant difference in the operation time between the two groups(P>0.05).The onset time, duration of anesthesia, and recovery room stay time of the ultrasound group were significantly shorter than those of the conventional group, and the anesthesia effect was significantly better than that of the conventional group. The success rate of one-time puncture was significantly higher than that of the conventional group, and the incidence of complications was significantly lower than that of the conventional group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in heart rate and mean arterial pressure between the two groups before nerve block(P>0.05).The heart rate and mean arterial pressure of the conventional group were significantly different at 30 minutes of nerve block compared to before nerve block(P<0.05).There was a significant difference in heart rate at 30 minutes of nerve block compared with before nerve block in the ultrasound group(P<0.05),but no significant difference in mean arterial pressure(P>0.05).There was a significant difference in heart rate and mean arterial pressure between the two groups after 30 minutes of nerve block(P<0.05).Conclusion Ultrasound-guided brachial plexus anesthesia block is safe and effective in children's upper limb surgery.
