Effect Analysis of Preoperative Psychological Intervention on Patients with Breast Cancer undergoing Radical Mastectomy

Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of preoperative psychological intervention on patients with breast cancer undergoing radical mastectomy(RM).Methods A total of 62 female patients with breast cancer who underwent RM at Jining Third People's Hospital(Yanzhou District People's Hospital)from May 2022 to May 2023 were selected.All patients were randomly divided into a conventional group and a psychological group using random number table method,with 31 cases in each group.The conventional group received conventional intervention before surgery,while the psychological group received psychological intervention on the basis of the conventional group intervention plan before surgery.Compare the anxiety levels,sleep quality,and vital signs between two groups at admission and 1 day before surgery,as well as compare the nursing satisfaction between the two groups on 1 day before surgery.Results On 1 day before surgery,the self-rating anxiety scale(SAS)scores of both groups were significantly lower than those at admission,and the SAS scores of the psychological group were significantly lower than those of the conventional group(P<0.05).On 1 day before surgery,the Pittsburgh sleep quality index scores in both groups were significantly lower than those at admission,and the psychological group was significantly lower than the conventional group(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the vital signs of the psychological group on 1 day before surgery compared with those at admission(P>0.05).On 1 day before surgery,all vital signs indicators in the conventional group were significantly higher than those at admission(P<0.05).On 1 day before surgery,all vital signs indicators in the psychological group were significantly lower than those in the conventional group(P<0.05).The nursing satisfaction scores of proactive nursing services,health education,communication skills,operational level,and hospitalization environment in the psychological group were significantly higher than those in the conventional group(P<0.05).Conclusion Preoperative psychological intervention for patients with breast cancer undergoing RM can effectively improve their anxiety,improve their sleep quality,stabilize their vital signs,and patients are highly satisfied with nursing services,which is worth promoting.
