Analysis of the Bactericidal Effect of Root Canal Photo-activated Disinfection on Dominant Pathogenic Bacteria in Root Canal

Abstract：Objective To explore the bactericidal effect of root canal photo-activated disinfection on dominant pathogenic bacteria in root canals.Methods A total of 103 patients with chronic periapical periodontitis admitted to the Second People's Hospital of Zhanhua District,Binzhou City from July 2020 to December 2022 were randomly divided into an observation group(52 cases)and a control group(51 cases)using a randomized controlled trial method.All patients were treated with conventional root canal therapy.On this basis,the observation group received root canal photo-activated disinfection,while the control group received conventional filling therapy.Observe and compare the pain situation,alveolar bone density,bacterial count,and dominant pathogenic bacteria detection rate of the two groups before and after treatment.Results After treatment,the pain situation,alveolar bone density,bacterial count,and detection rate of dominant pathogenic bacteria in both groups improved significantly compared to before treatment(all P<0.05).After treatment,the pain score of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group,the alveolar bone density of the affected teeth was significantly higher than that of the control group,the colony culture count was significantly lower than that of the control group,and the detection rate of dominant pathogenic bacteria in the root canal was significantly lower than that of the control group(all P<0.05).Conclusion In root canal therapy,the use of root canal photo-activated disinfection can effectively control oral infections,alleviate pain,reduce dominant pathogenic bacteria in the root canal,and achieve better sterilization effects.
