The Effect of Prolonging the Maintenance Time of Infusion Ports on Catheter Function and Complications in Cancer Patients after Chemotherapy

Abstract：Objective To analyze and explore the impact of extending the maintenance time of infusion ports on the catheter function and complications of cancer patients after chemotherapy.Methods One hundred and twenty tumor patients who underwent chemotherapy in our hospital from June 2021 to June 2023 were randomly divided into a conventional group and a study group,with 60 cases in each group.The conventional group returned to the hospital every 4 weeks to maintain the infusion port,while the study group returned to the hospital every 12 weeks to maintain the infusion port.After maintenance for six months,the catheter function,incidence of complications,quality of life score,nursing compliance,and overall nursing satisfaction of the two groups of patients were compared after chemotherapy.Results In the study group,the patency rate of the infusion port catheter was 96.67%,and the rate of withdrawal obstruction was 1.67%,while in the conventional,the patency rate of the infusion port catheter group was 98.33%,and the rate of withdrawal obstruction was 3.33%,there was no statistically significant difference in the function of the infusion port catheter between the two groups(P>0.05).The incidence of complications in the study group was 5.00%,while in the conventional group it was 6.67%,there was no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).The scores of World Health Organization quality of life-100 in the study group were significantly higher than those in the conventional group(P<0.05).The nursing compliance of the study group was 98.33%,which was higher than the 85.00%of the conventional group(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared to returning to the hospital every 4 weeks to maintain the infusion port,returning to the hospital every 12 weeks to maintain the infusion port does not affect the function of the catheter,and has better safety.It can effectively improve the quality of life of patients,enhance their nursing compliance.
