Abstract:Objective To explore the application value of procalcitonin(PCT),heat-fatty acid binding protein(H-FABP),and cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2)in the diagnosis of sepsis infection types and the disease assessment. Methods Sixty-eight patients with sepsis admitted to Xuzhou New Health Geriatric Hospital from January 2023 to January 2024 were selected as the study group, and 42 healthy volunteers were selected as the control group.According to the type of infection, they were divided into bacterial infection group(40 cases)and fungal infection group(28 cases).According to the severity of the condition, they were divided into mild group(37 cases)and severe group(31 cases). The expression of serum PCT,H-FABP and COX-2 in different subgroups were compared, and the diagnostic value of serum PCT,H-FABP and COX-2 in the infection type and the severity of sepsis patients was evaluated. Results Serum PCT,H-FABP and COX-2 in the study group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The serum PCT in bacterial infection group was higher than that in fungal infection group.Serum PCT,H-FABP and COX-2 in severe group were higher than those in mild group(P<0.05).ROC analysis showed that the area under the curve(AUC)values of PCT,H-FABP and COX-2 alone and their combination were 0.748,0.505,0.516 and 0.753,while the AUC values for disease severity were 0.776,0.799,0.760 and 0.901,respectively.Conclusion The combined prediction of serum PCT,H-FABP and COX-2 has the largest area under ROC curve for severe sepsis, which can provide reference for early diagnosis and severity evaluation.
