Abstract:Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of danhuang tongmai capsules combined with atorvastatin on carotid plaques in hypertensive patients. Methods A total of 400 hypertensive patients with carotid plaques admitted to the Third People's Hospital of Xintai from December 2020 to November 2022 were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 200 cases in each group. All participants received a conventional treatment regimen after enrollment.Additionally, the experimental group received danhuang tongmai capsules combined with atorvastatin, while the control group was treated with atorvastatin alone. The changes in lipid levels and two-dimensional parameters of target plaques before and after treatment were compared, and a one-year follow-up was conducted to record the incidence of cerebrovascular diseases in both groups. Results After treatment, the total cholesterol, triacylglycerol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol, plaque thickness, plaque area, and intima-media thickness significantly decreased in both groups, with the experimental group showing lower values than the control group(P<0.05).But high-density lipoprotein cholesterol significantly increased in both groups, with the experimental group showing higher values than the control group(P<0.05).Follow-up results indicated that the incidence of cardiovascular diseases in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion For hypertensive patients with carotid plaques, treatment with danhuang tongmai capsules combined with atorvastatin could effectively reduces lipid levels, inhibits the progression of carotid atherosclerotic plaques, and improves prognosis.
