Effect of Integrated Extension Nursing for Elderly Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of integrated extended nursing for elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods A total of 96 elderly patients with T2DM admitted to Xiajiazhuang Health Center in Boshan District,Zibo City from June 2022 to June 2023 were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group with 48 cases each.The control group received routine nursing,and the observation group received integrated extended nursing.The management and quality of life of the two groups were compared before and after 6 months of nursing.Results After 6 months of nursing,the fasting blood glucose(FBG),2-hour postprandial blood glucose(2 h PG)levels,and quality of life scores of both groups improved compared to before nursing,and the observation group had significantly better FBG,2 h PG levels,and quality of life scores than the control group after 6 months of nursing(P<0.05).Conclusion The implementation of integrated extended care for elderly patients with T2DM can further improve their blood glucose level and improve their quality of life compared with conventional care,which is worth popularizing.
