Abstract:Objective To explore the efficacy and safety of moxifloxacin in the treatment of elderly pneumonia. Methods A total of 106 elderly patients with pneumonia admitted to Fuxian People's Hospital from February 2021 to March 2024 were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 53 cases in each group, using a random number table method. After relevant laboratory pathogen tests, the control group was treated with azithromycin, while the observation group was treated with moxifloxacin.Compare and analyze the disappearance time of clinical symptoms, length of hospital stay,post-treatment lung function, incidence of adverse reactions during treatment,as well as respiratory function and inflammatory factor levels before and after treatment between two groups. Results The disappearance time of cough, sputum, pulmonary rales, respiratory distress, and hospitalization time in the observation group were significantly shorter than those in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the respiratory function indicators of the two groups improved in terms of respiratory frequency, shallow and rapid breathing index, oxygenation index, and ventilation level compared to before treatment. Moreover, the observation group showed significantly better levels of these indicators than the control group after treatment(P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of various indicators of lung function in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of inflammatory factors in both groups of patients were lower than before treatment, and the levels of the above indicators in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group after treatment(P<0.05).The total incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 7.55%,which was lower than the 11.32%in the control group, but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion Moxifloxacin has high antibacterial activity and broad-spectrum antibacterial effects in the treatment of elderly pneumonia, which it can effectively alleviate symptoms, inhibit inflammatory factor levels, and has better safety and good therapeutic effects.
