Abstract:Objective To investigate the application value of percutaneous vertebroplasty in elderly patients with thoracolumbar osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture(OVCF).Methods In this study,a total of 80 elderly patients with OVCF admitted to Yinchuan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2019 to June 2023 were selected as the research objects, and were divided into operation group(percutaneous vertebroplasty treatment)and conservative treatment group(traditional chinese medicine directional drug therapy+small needle-knife+intensive silver needle thermal conduction therapy)according to the differences in treatment methods, with 40 cases in each group.Oswestry disability index(ODI),kyphotic Cobb angle, pain(visual analogue score,VAS)at different time points, quality of life(36-item short-form,SF-36)and occurrence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results Before treatment, there were no significant differences in ODI,kyphotic Cobb angle and SF-36 scores between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the ODI score and the kyphotic Cobb angle in the operation group were significantly lower than those in the conservative treatment group, and the SF-36 score was significantly higher than that in the conservative treatment group(P<0.05).Before treatment, there was no significant difference in VAS scores between the two groups(P>0.05).VAS score at 1 month,at 3 months and at 6 months after treatment in the operation group were significantly lower than those in the conservative treatment group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Percutaneous vertebroplasty for the treatment of OVCF in elderly patients can improve pain and lumbar function, improve the quality of life of patients, and is recommended.
