Effects of Vitamin A,D and E Nutrition Status on Growth and Development in Children

Abstract:Objective To analyze the nutritional levels of vitamin A(VA),vitamin D(VD),and vitamin E(VE)and their effects on children's growth and development in Sheyang County,Yancheng City,Jiangsu Province,providing more evidence for the formulation of policies on vitamin supplementation and prevention of related diseases.Methods In this study,a total of 100 children who came to the People's Hospital of Sheyang County,Yancheng City,for physical examination,follow-up,and consultation from August 2023 to March 2024 were selected as the study subjects,and the levels of VA,VD,and VE and the composition ratio of children at different age intervals and different genders were compared and analyzed.Results The average levels of VA and VE in all age groups reached the standard.The VD level reached the standard among children in the age group of 0~3 years old,and the VD level of children over 4 years old did not reach the standard.The levels of VA,VD,and VE in children aged 0~3 years old were all the highest(P<0.05).The rate of VD deficiency in children aged 0~3 years was lower than that in children aged 4~6 years,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05);and the rates of VA deficiency and VE deficiency in children aged 4~6 years were higher than that in children aged 0~3 years and 7~14 years,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).VA,VD and VE levels in boys and girls showed no difference(P>0.05).VA and VE levels in boys and girls reached the standard,and VD levels did not reach the standard.VA deficiency rate showed no difference between boys and girls(P>0.05).VD deficiency of girls was significantly higher than that of boys(P<0.05).VE deficiency rate of girls was significantly lower than that of boys(P<0.05).Conclusion The nutritional levels of VA,VD and VE in children in Sheyang County,Yancheng City,Jiangsu Province,are not optimistic,especially the seriousness of VD deficiency,therefore,we should strengthen the nutritional value of VA,VD and VE and the benefits of timely supplementation to ensure that children's levels of VA,VD and VE are up to standard.
