The Improvement Effect of Acupoint Catgut Embedding Combined with Acupoint Application on Anxiety and Depression in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Abstract：Objective To explore the effect of acupoint catgut embedding combined with acupoint application on improving anxiety and depression in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods A total of 60 patients with COPD admitted to Tianjin Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine Affiliated Hospital from December 2022 to December 2023 were selected as the study subjects.All patients were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group,with 30 patients in each group using a random number table method.The control group received routine treatment,while the observation group received acupoint catgut embedding combined with acupoint application on the basis of routine treatment.Compare the breathing difficulties,anxiety,and depression before and after treatment between two groups,as well as the occurrence of adverse reactions during treatment.Results The respiratory distress questionnaire scores,anxiety and depression scores after treatment in both groups were significantly lower than before treatment,and the observation group had significantly lower scores than the control group after treatment(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was lower than that in the control group,but the difference was not significant(P>0.05).Conclusion Patients with COPD can be treated with acupoint catgut embedding combined with acupoint application,which can improve their anxiety and depression levels,alleviate breathing difficulties,and has high safety.It is worth promoting and using.
