Abstract:Objective To study the effects of minocycline combined with tinidazole on inflammatory response and oxidative stress in patients with chronic periodontitis in the community. Methods Ninety-eight patients with chronic periodontitis in the community who received treatment at Shijiu Street Community Health Service Center in Donggang District from March 2021 to February 2023(a total of 98 teeth)were selected, and randomly divided into a control group and a study group, with 49 patients in each group by a random number table method. The control group was treated with tinidazole, while the research group added minocycline to tinidazole for treatment. The periodontal health indicators, inflammatory response indicators, and oxidative stress indicators were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the gingival index, periodontal probing depth, plaque index,interleukin-1β,interleukin-6,monocyte chemotactic protein-1,malondialdehyde,and nitric oxide in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group, while superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of minocycline and tinidazole can effectively improve periodontal health and regulate inflammation and oxidative stress responses in the treatment of chronic periodontitis in the community.
