Abstract:Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of glucosamine combined with celecoxib in the treatment of early stage knee osteoarthritis(KOA)in the elderly. Methods A total of 80 elderly patients with early stage KOA admitted to Liaoyang Central Hospital from January 2021 to December 2022 were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 40 cases in each group. Both groups received basic lifestyle interventions. The control group received oral celecoxib, while the observation group added glucosamine additionally. The inflammatory factor indicators and knee joint function were compared between two groups. Results After treatment, the levels of serum tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin-1β,matrix metalloproteinase-3 and the levels of knee joint fluid supernatant soluble intracellular adhesion molecule-1,β-catenin in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, while the levels of knee joint fluid supernatant osteoprotegerin in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The scores of pain, joint range of motion, walking function, joint muscle strength, stability and the total score in the observation group of New York hospital for special surgery knee score were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of glucosamine and celecoxib can further alleviate the inflammatory status in peripheral blood and knee joint fluid, and improve knee joint function in the treatment of early stage KOA in elderly patients.
