Abstract:Objective To explore the differential diagnostic effect of CT examination on acute and chronic appendicitis in children. Methods A total of 80 children with appendicitis who were treated at Jinxiang County People's Hospital from January 2022 to June 2023 were selected. All children underwent CT examination before surgical pathological examination, and the diagnostic effect of CT examination was determined based on the results of surgical pathological examination. The CT imaging characteristics of typical and atypical acute and chronic appendicitis were compared. Results A total of 80 cases of pediatric patients underwent surgical pathological examination,2 cases of chronic appendicitis,39 cases of acute simple appendicitis,25 cases of acute suppurative appendicitis,10 cases of gangrenous appendicitis, and 4 cases of perforated appendicitis.CT examination results showed 2 cases of chronic appendicitis,39 cases of acute simple appendicitis,25 cases of acute suppurative appendicitis,9 cases of gangrenous appendicitis, and 3 cases of perforated appendicitis. There was no significant difference between CT examination and surgical pathological examination results(χ2 value is 2.025,P>0.05).CT imaging features between typical and atypical acute and chronic appendicitis showed that there was no significant difference in appendix wall thickness(P>0.05),while there was significant difference in diameter and DEPTE(P<0.05).Conclusion CT examination has an ideal differential diagnostic effect on acute and chronic appendicitis in children, but factors such as radiation should be considered, and a reasonable examination method should be selected based on the individual situation of the child.
