Diagnostic Effect of Ultrasound Examination on Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma

Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical diagnostic effect of ultrasound examination on papillary thyroid carcinoma. Methods Ultrasound examination was conducted on 50 patients suspected of papillary thyroid carcinoma at Jinxiang County People's Hospital in Shandong Province from November 2022 to November 2023.The postoperative pathological examination results were used as the"gold standard"to analyze the accuracy, specificity, and sensitivity of ultrasound diagnosis, and to compare the ultrasound imaging characteristics of benign and malignant lesions. Results The accuracy, specificity, and sensitivity of ultrasound examination in diagnosing papillary thyroid carcinoma were 88.00%(44/50),66.67%(4/6),and 90.91%(40/44),respectively.The ultrasound imaging features of papillary thyroid carcinoma lesions showed that the proportion of microcalcifications(53.95%),low echogenicity(63.16%),unclear lesion boundaries(60.53%),and aspect ratio>1(65.79%)in the nodules was significantly higher than that in non-papillary thyroid carcinoma(P<0.05).Conclusion Ultrasound examination has high diagnostic accuracy and sensitivity for papillary thyroid carcinoma, with certain ultrasound imaging features, but its diagnostic specificity is relatively low. Therefore,in clinical practice, accurate diagnosis still needs to be made by combining examination and other auxiliary examinations to avoid misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis.
