Application of Information-Motivation-Behavior Model in Health Education for Elderly Cataract Surgery Patients

Abstract:Objective To explore the application value of information-motivation-behavioral skills(IMB)model in health education for elderly cataract surgery patients.Methods Fifty elderly cataract patients admitted to the First People's Hospital of Jiayuguan City from January to October 2023 were randomly divided into a control group and a study group,with 25 cases in each group.The control group received routine health education,while the research group received IMB model health education.The psychological status,health beliefs,and quality of life scores were compared between two groups after one month of intervention.The evaluation tools were state-trait anxiety inventory,the Champion health belief model scale and Chinese version low vision quality of life questionnaire.Results After intervention,the score of psychological state of the study group was significantly lower than that of the control group,while the scores of health belief scale and quality of life were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The IMB model can further improve the psychological status,health beliefs,and quality of life in elderly cataract patients.
