Abstract:Objective? To analyze the clinical characteristics of lung cancer with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods The clinical data of 450 patients with lung cancer hospitalized in Liaoning Provincial People’s Hospital from July 2017 to June 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were divided into two groups according to whether they had type 2 diabetes mellitus or not. The general data, coagulation function and the level of tumor markers were compared between the two groups. Results There were significant differences in age, body mass index, family history of diabetes mellitus between lung cancer patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(observation group) and those without type 2 diabetes mellitus(control group)(P<0.05). There were no significant differences in gender and smoking history between the two groups(P>0.05). There was no significant difference in pathological classification of lung cancer between the two groups(P>0.05). There were significant differences in prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time between the two groups(P<0.05), but no significant differences in other coagulation function indexes(P>0.05). The levels of carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA), neuron specific enolase(NSE) and cytokeratin 19 fragment were significantly different between the two groups(P<0.05). Conclusion Lung cancer and type 2 diabetes can interact and promote the occurrence and development of the two diseases. For elderly lung cancer patients, patients with high BMI, and patients with diabetes mellitus family history, the possibility of type 2 diabetes mellitus should be highly vigilant.
