Retrospective Analysis of Ultrasound in 47 Cases of Breast Cancer with Medullary Features
ZHOU Yanhua
Abstract:Objective? To summarize the ultrasonographic features of breast cancer lesions with medullary features in order to accumulate experience for ultrasonographic diagnosis. Methods? A total of 47 patients underwent breast cancer resection in our hospital from 2014 to 2018 were selected, retrospectively. All patients were diagnosed as medullary breast cancer by pathology after operation. The sonographic contents, such as: size (longitudinal diameter, transverse diameter), shape (regular), edge (smooth), boundary (clear), peripheral halo, Echo (internal and posterior echoes), calcification, and the blood flow intensity (internal and peripheral) measured by color Doppler flow imaging, were integrated and analyzed. Results? Forty-seven cases of medullary breast cancer were all single, 41 cases were consistent with pathological diagnosis, 6 cases were inconsistent, the diagnostic coincidence rate was 87.2%. The sonographic features of 41 cases of medullary breast cancer accurately diagnosed by ultrasonography were as follows:aspect ratio >1 (97.6%); more clear margins (73.2%); more irregular shapes (78.0%); more non-smooth margins (75.6%); more silent halos around (92.7%); more inhomogeneous internal echoes (87.8%); more enhanced posterior echoes (65.9%); and more internal echoes. No calcification (82.9%) and blood flow (68.3% and 63.4%) were found in the interior and periphery. Conclusion? Ultrasonography has a high diagnostic accuracy for medullary breast cancer, and has a good imaging effect for solid tumors, but there are some misdiagnoses. Analysis of the causes of misdiagnosis is helpful to further improve the understanding of the sonographic features of this disease and avoid misdiagnosis.
