Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of modified Shaoyao Gancao Decoction combined with acupuncture on trigeminal neuralgia. Methods A total of 146 patients with trigeminal neuralgia admitted to our hospital from 2015 to 2018 were randomly divided into control group and observation group, 73 cases in each group. The control group took carbamazepine tablets orally. The observation group was treated with Shaoyao Gancao Decoction combined with acupuncture on the basis of carbamazepine tablets orally. Bothgroups were treated for 21 days. To evaluate the therapeutic effect of the patients, the Jane's Health-related Quality of Life Questionnaire-36 (SF-36) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were used to evaluate the quality of life and sleep. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was 91.78%, and that of the control group was 79.45%. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The scores of SF-36 in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The scores of each dimension and total score of PSQI scale in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Modified Shaoyao Gancao Decoction combined with acupuncture treatment can effectively improve the treatment effect of patients with trigeminal neuralgia, and improve their quality of life and sleep, which is worthy of clinical application.
