Comparative Study of Suspension Laryngoscopy and Fiberolaryngoscope in the Treatment of Vocal Cord Polyp

Abstract:Objective? To compare the effcacy and safety of suspension laryngoscopy and fiberolaryngoscope in the treatment of vocal cord polyps (VCP). Methods A total of 80 VCP cases in Tianjin Baodi People’s Hospital, Baodi Clinical College of Tianjin Medical University from January 2016 to January 2018 were randomly divided into observation group and control group, 40 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with suspension laryngoscopy and the control group was treated with fiberolaryngoscope. The surgery situation clinical effects, normal voice recovery time, complications and recurrence after 6 months were compared. Results The operation time and intraoperative blood loss in observation group were significantly lower than control group (P<0.01). There was no significant difference in hospitalization time between the two groups (P>0.05). The clinical curative effects in observation group was superior to control group (P>0.05). The recovery time of voice in observation group was significantly shorter than control group (P<0.05). In observation group, the incidence of post-operative complications and the recurrence rate at 6 months after operation were significantly lower than control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The curative effect of suspension laryngoscopy in the treatment of VCP is better than fiberolaryngoscope, which can reduce the complications and recurrence rate, and promote the recovery of voice, deserving to extensive application.
