Abstract:Objective? To explore the effect of concave pillow in the prevention of shoulder-hand syndrome after stroke. Methods A total of 160 stroke patients admitted to Foshan Jianxiang Hospital from January 2016 to June 2018 were randomly divided into observation group and control group, 80 cases in each group. The two groups received symptom and rehabilitation treatment. The control group was supported by soft pillow, while the observation group was supported by concave pillow. The neurological deficits, upper limb motor function, activity of daily life, complication, and occurrence of shoulder-hand syndrome between two groups were observed and compared. Results After intervention, the neurological deficit, motor function of upper limbs and daily living ability scores of the two groups were improved. The motor function of upper limbs and daily living ability scores of the observation group were significantly better than those of the control group (P < 0.05), while the neurological deficit score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group after intervention, but the difference was not significant (P> 0.05). The incidence of shoulder-hand syndrome and total complications in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P< 0.05). Conclusion The use of concave pillow for postural support in stroke patients can improve the upper limb motor function and living ability, and effectively prevent shoulder-hand syndrome, which is worthy of clinical application.
