Abstract:Objective? To observe the effect of nonspecific pain on sleep quality in elderly patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and explore its risk factors. Methods A total of 318 elderly patients with PD admitted to Liuzhou People’s Hospital from 2013 to 2018 were divided into pain group (140 cases) and non-pain group (178 cases). Another 150 healthy elderly people who underwent physical examination in our hospital during the same period were selected as control group. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Fatigue Scale-14 (FS-14) scores of the three groups were compared, and the risk factors of pain in 318 PD patients were analyzed. Results There was no significant differences in PSQI between the three groups (P>0.05). There were significant differences in sleep latency, subjective sleep quality, habitual sleep effciency, daytime dysfunction, sleep disorder and total score (P<0.05). There was significant difference in FS-14 score among the three groups (P<0.05). Course of disease, Hoehn-Yahr classification, depression and anxiety are independent risk factors for pain occurrence in elderly patients with Parkinson’s disease. Conclusion Non-specific pain can significantly affect the sleep quality for elderly patients with PD, especially in patients with long course of disease, high Hoehn-Yahr grade, depression and anxiety. More attention should be paid to the occurrence of non-specific pain, and comprehensive treatment should be given as necessary.
