Abstract:Objective? To explore the correlation between the economic burden of dementia patients and the cognitive level of relevant medical staff, in order to provide reference for clinical practice. Methods A total 229 dementia patients over 55 years old in 10 communities in Dalian and 190 corresponding medical staff responsible for dementia patients in corresponding community health service centers were selected as the research objects from June 2017 to June 2018. The correlation between economic burden of dementia patients and cognitive level of related medical staff was analyzed by questionnaire survey. Results The direct economic burdens of senile dementia was 2 974.38 (mean) and 2 400 (median), indirect economic burdens was 2 143.56 (mean) and 1 750 (median). The medical personnel had a good attitude but low score in knowledge and practice. There was a negative correction between direct economic burdens and knowledge(r=-0.623), attitude(r=-0.378), practice(r=-0.465), cognition level(r=-0.490) of related medical personnel. There was a negative correction between indirect economic burdens and knowledge(r=-0.324). There was a negative correction between total economic burdens and knowledge(r=-0.517), attitude(r=-0.311), practice(r=-0.277), cognition level(r=-0.389) of related medical personnel. Conclusion The economic burden of dementia patients over 55 years old in 10 communities in Dalian is negatively correlated with the cognitive level of the relevant medical staff, but the cognitive level is not high. It is necessary to strengthen the training and education of the relevant medical staff on dementia knowledge so as to improve their cognitive level in order to improve the prognosis of dementia patients.
