Abstract:Objective? To evaluate the diagnostic value of MRI for trigeminal neuronal compression (NVC) in patients with primary trigeminal neuralgia (TN) by brain scan combined with B-FEE and 3D-TOF sequence. Methods A total of 51 patients with unilateral primary TN were included in the study. B-FEE and 3d-TOF sequence scans were performed on both sides of the skull, with thickness of 1 mm. The NVC degree and location in symptom side and non-symptom side were analyzed on two sequences and postprocessing image. Results The NVC degree in TN patients showed significant differences between two sides (P<0.05). The D value in NVC in symptom side were significantly different between two groups (P<0.05). The D value is significantly different for short distance between two sides (P<0.05), while no significant differences were found for medium and large distance between two sides (P>0.05). Conclusion The combined use of MRI B-FEE and 3D-TOF sequences shows good effect on moderate and severe compression in NVC, and is of great significance in providing preoperative evaluation and guidance for clinical treatment.
