Abstract:Objective? To investigate the effects of different doses of vitamin D (VitD) on morning peak blood pressure (MBPS) in elderly hypertensive patients and related mechanism. Methods A total of 180 patients with primary hypertension admitted to Shenyang Economic and Technological Development Zone People’s Hospital from 2015 to 2018 were randomly divided into control group, low dose group and high dose group, 60 cases in each group. Based on routine antihypertensive drug regimen, the control group received placebo, the low dose group was given calcitriol 0.25 μg/time, once a day, and the high dose group was given calcitriol 0.25 μg/time, twice a day. Blood pressure fluctuations and rennin - angiotensin - aldosterone system (RAAS) activity were compared in three groups before and after treatment. Results There were no significant differences in systolic blood pressure, 24-hour diastolic blood pressure, morning peak blood pressure, renin activity, angiotensin II and aldosterone levels among the three groups before treatment (P>0.05), and there were significant differences in the above indexes after treatment (P<0.05). Conclusion On the basis of routine antihypertensive therapy, VitD can enhance the antihypertensive effect, which may be achieved by inhibiting the activity of RAAS system.
