Abstract:Objective The aim of the study is to compare the clinical efficacy of warm needle acupuncture and normal acupuncture in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation. Methods From January 2015 to December 2017,a total of 63 patients with lumbar disc herniation were selected and divided into warming needle acupuncture group(32 cases) and normal acupuncture group(31 cases) according to the acupuncture method. After two courses of treatment, the clinical effects between the two groups were compared.Visual analogue scale(VAS) and improved Japanese Orthopaedic Association JOA score were used to evaluate pain degree and lumbar function before and after treatment. Results The total effective rate in the warming needle acupuncture group was 90.6%,and was significantly higher than 67.7% in the normal acupuncture group (χ2=5.035,P<0.05).After treatment,VAS score decreased and JOA score increased in both groups.VAS score in warming needle acupuncture group was significantly lower than normal acupuncture group, while JOA score and improvement index were significantly higher than normal acupuncture group (P<0.05).Conclusion Warming needle acupuncture has more advantages than normal acupuncture in relieving pain and improving lumbar function in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation, which is worth popularizing.
