Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical signiifcance of serum cystatin C(Cys-C) testing in old patients with chronic renal failure(CRF).Methods98 patients with CRF were observation group. 36 healthy old people were served as the control. The levels of serum Cys-C, Scr, and BUN of the 2 groups were tested and compared. Results The levels of serum Cys-C, Scr, and BUN of the observation group were signiifcantly higher than those of the control(P<0.01). There were signiifcantly differences among periodⅠ, periodⅡ, periodⅢ, and periodⅣ patients in the observation group about the levels of Cys-C, Scr, and BUN(P<0.01). Positive rate of Cys-C testing in periodⅠ group was signiifcantly higher than those of Scr and BUN(P<0.05). ConclusionSerum Cys-C could be a sensitive indicator for early diagnosis in old patients with CRF, and it had an important value to evaluate the severity of the disease.
