Efifcacy of Repaglinide Combined with Metformin in the Treatment of Old Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract:ObjectiveTo investigate the efifcacy and safety of repaglinide combined with metformin in the treatment of old patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods 138 cases with type 2 diabetes mellitus as the observation group who were treated with repaglinide combined with metformin. 134 cases as the control group who were treated with metformin. The changes of plasma glucose, postprandial changes in plasma glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, function of liver and kidney, blood lactate, and other indicators before and after treatment of the 2 groups were compared.Results The levels of plasma glucose and lipid of the observation group were lower than those of the control group. The function of liver and kidney, and levels of blood lactate before and after treatment did not change signiifcantly in both of the two groups. There was no lactic acidosis.ConclusionThe repaglinide combined with metformin was safe and effective in the treatment of old patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and would get a better reduce effect of plasma glucose.
