Abstract:The rate of the malnutrition is very high in the patients with advanced gastric cancer (GC) who have short survival time and poor prognosis. For lack of the basic necessitated nutritional conditions, malnutrition decreases the tolerance and response of the patients for chemotherapy, and thereby having impact on the effective treatment which leads to the failure of chemotherapy and further makes the patients lose the operative opportunity.Under the combined influence of chemotherapy and operation, ignorance of the malnutrition would increase significantly the rate of postoperative complications. Therefore, during the multidisciplinary treatment, the patients with malnutrition had better receive the active nutritional support and intervention as soon as necessary. It is unnecessary to worry about the theoretical tumor growth of nutrition support.Due to the failure of chemotherapy, the patients would be final stage with the feature of poor prognosis, and therefore the influence on the prognosis of the nutrition support is very little, and even neglectable.Owing to the successful chemotherapy, the patients are hopeful to receive radical operation that can increase the survival time significantly. So,it is prominent to display the synergetic anticancer effect of the nutrition support, such as the increasing success rate of the chemotherapy and the significant improvement of the prognosis.
