Analysis of inpatient costs and the influencing factors during surgical hospitalization of gastric neoplasms
Abstract:Objective To explore the status of the inpatient costs during surgical hospitalization of gastric cancer, examine the association between factors and the costs, and to provide valuable suggestions for controlling medical costs. Methods Gastric cancer patients who had undergone surgical treatments in Peking University People’s Hospital from April 2010 to January 2014 were collected consecutively. Chi-square test and Logistic regression analysis were used to estimate the association between factors and the costs. Results (1) The median inpatient cost was¥83 284(QL=58 535,QU=123 529)yuan,and the proportion of medicine fees (46.8%) was the highest among all the item fees.(2) Age, technical title of surgeon and complications were independently associated with increased cost. Conclusion Early detection and treatment of gastric cancer and prevention of postoperative complications were effective means to control medical costs.
