Abstract:Cholecystolithotomy is a new technique raised for nearly a decade. Since the first description in the world, the great controversy has been going on in the surgical field. The issues focus on the postoperative recurrence, indications of the cholecystolithotomy and the reasons of recurrence. Unfortunately, by now, there is no enough evidence to give the answer which is the better between cholecystolithotomy and cholecystectomy. Nevertheless, the fundamental principle is that the gallbladder preservation is not only preserving the organ itself but also the normal function of the organ. If a diseased gallbladder is inappropriately preserved, it could be potential harmful to the patient.
